Objective
Students will be able to: - Demonstrate various color schemes and techniques using watercolor as the medium. - Practice care for brushes - View watercolor artists for ideas and inspiration Project #1: Practice Sheet with different techniques Demonstrate the following 8 techniques: Wet on Dry, Wet on Wet, Graded Wash, Dry Brush, Splatter, Tape Resist, Wax Resist, Scratch/Scrape, Blow with Straw, Clear Wrap, Finger, Watercolor Colored Pencils, Sketch and Wash, and ink. *There are many other techniques. Experiment and practice others you find! (DOL: Completed techniques with experimentation) Requirements 1. Complete Techniques 2. Experimentation Project #2: Monochromatic Still-Life Painting - Create a painting using one hue, plus tints and shades of that hue. - Must be of an object in front of you - Must use one resist (DOL: Fulfillment of Requirements.) Requirements 1. Monochromatic Color Scheme 2. Work From Still Life 3. Craftsmanship of Techniques (Experimentation) 4. Composition (Main objects not in the middle) 5. White of paper is lightest value Project #3: Complementary Color Painting - Create a painting using complementary colors - Subject is student’s choice, but must be representational and not copy-written (DOL: Fulfillment of Requirements.) Requirements 1. Complementary Color Scheme 2. Work From Still Life 3. Craftsmanship of Techniques (Experimentation) 4. Composition (Main objects not in the middle) 5. White of paper is lightest value Project #4: Abstract to Real Watercolor - Create a painting using color scheme of your choice, plus adding ink. - Students start with painting a non-representational object, then turn it into something representational. (DOL: Fulfillment of Requirements.) Requirements 1. Started Surreal and ended Representational 2. Experimentation of Techniques 3. Mixed media used 4. Use of space |
