Final Project
Objective
Students will be able to create three separate pieces based on a chosen concentration or theme. Students will demonstrate how to mat, mount, and display their work including a typed artist statement. Below are the guidelines for each section of the project. Assignment You will create three pieces based on one concentration or theme. The theme for your project is ____________________________________________________. This will be discussed in class, as well as, examples given to guide you in this process. Each of your pieces should be a sustained investigation in the concentration. Your three pieces should stylistically look like they came from you. Your work does not need to be any larger that 12”x18” and shouldn’t be any smaller than 9”x12”. A border is optional and shouldn’t be larger that ½” of an inch. Matting and Mounting A demonstration will be given to guide you in how to mat and mount your projects. Sketch and write the dimensions in the area provided below. 1. 2. 3. Artist’s Statement This writing should be 1-2 paragraphs typed in length explaining the following: Example of formatting will be given in class. - How did your theme come about? - What are the concepts, issues or ideas you have explored here and how are they linked in your work? - What experiences have contributed to the making of this work? - What materials and techniques have you used and why did you choose these? - Do the materials have an impact on the meaning of the work? - How does the way the work is displayed, hung, otherwise presented contribute to how it communicates with the viewer? - How did you consider the arrangement of the works within the space that you have available? - Do you have an overall vision for presenting this body of work?
