Final Project
***Assignments should be submitted in Seesaw***
Overview
For the past 3 weeks you based sketches on "visual journals" based on the themes of: Joy, Place, and Hope.
You will be creating a finished piece based on one of those three themes or a new theme of your choosing.
You may use the same composition and idea you previously used, but this needs to look finished.
The size of your piece should be at least 8" x 10" and can be done on any material you have available.
You can create this in any medium you have available. You can mix media as well.
Time/Effort
This project would usually take around 6 hours. That is equal to 4 block period classes and one Friday class. Minus time for Bell Work, clean-up, discussions, critiques, etc. I'm asking you to use 2 or more hours on this. Your visual journal sketches were to take 30-45 minutes and were not finished pieces. I'm not asking you to time yourself, but this is going to be a reflection of what you took from class this year.
Grading
You will be graded on the following items:
1. Concept: Does your imagery support your idea? Are you able to communicate what your idea is about? Where is your imagery from? Is it copy-written? If so, then error on the side of caution and don't use it.
2. Composition: Is your arrangement interesting to look at? Are you using the rule-of-thirds, foreshortening, and/or cropping?
3. Craftsmanship: What skill level are you demonstrating with your chosen medium? How are you using light/shadow, layering, or shading techniques?
4. Process: Did you add an in-progress piece to Seesaw?
5. Reflection: You will critique yourself and reflect on what you've created using a google form.
Directions
1. Concept - Choose the theme you'd like to use. You can use Joy, Place, or Hope and build off of what you've already created for your "visual journal" sketch or you can choose a new theme.
2. Craftsmanship/Medium - Choose the materials you'd like to use. You can create this on or with anything you choose. Make sure the size of the piece is at least 8" x 10".
3. Composition - If you're basing your piece off of what you've already drawn from one of your past sketches, then you may need to just modify what you'd like to do for your final piece. If this is a new theme, you will need to create some thumbnail drawings to decide your composition.
4. Practice your ideas and techniques on another piece of paper or in your sketchbook if you have one.
5. Back away from your sketches and final piece throughout the process to see any changes you may want to make.
6. Have others look at your work. See if they can give you any productive feedback.
7. Add a "process photo" of what your working on in Seesaw. There will be an activity that I'll assign where you can add this.
8. Submit final piece to Seesaw in the activity called "Final Project Submission" no later than midnight on Monday May 18th.
9. Do the Critique/Reflection. This will be a google form found here. It may also be found in Seesaw. The link will be available at the start of finals.
*You will continue to sign in to Seesaw and answer a question for attendance purposes.
