Coffee Still Life Painting

Coffee Painting Grading Rubric
Objective: 
Students will be able to create a painting demonstrating the use of depth, composition, and basic water media techniques.

Process:
  1. Look at examples.
  2. Choose your subject matter.
  3. Create thumbnails to demonstrate composition and depth.
  4. Sketch the contours of the still life using your 4H pencil on 9"x12" paper.
  5. Practice using the coffee on this paper to achieve your values and practice techniques.
  6. Get piece of 12"x18" watercolor paper for final still life painting.
  7. Fill in space using the values you see. 
  8. Critique your final product.

1.    Concept   
2.    Composition (Rule-of-Thirds, Depth (Size, Value, Position, Overlapping, Detail)
3.    Craftsmanship: Light & Shadow (White of the Paper/ Dark Values)
4.    Studio Professionalism
5.    Artist's Statement/ Reflection
